Deep Wicked Freaky is one of those books you hate to put down. Napoleon's story telling draws you in and paints a vivid picture of each of his characters. Personally I loved watching Jenna evolve into a fierce female taking fate into her own hands and taking charge of her own life. Landon Napoleon is a talented story teller who is guaranteed to take you on a deep, wicked, freaky ride!
I'm a big fan of Landon Napoleon - in fact I've read all his books. This is one of my favorites, for a couple reasons. First, the dialog of his characters is sharp and hilarious - in this book, particularly the boyfriend and the Scottish "boss." Second, the author creates a serious build-up of tension - it's almost visceral how much you want to know what happens as Jenna tries to pull off her "last" trip. This is one of those books you'll waste a good night's sleep on because you can't put it down until you know what happens.
I've read Deep Wicked Freaky twice now, and each time have come away with an experience of making a new "connection". I relate to Jenna's journeys across the desert at night, as one we can all take to connect to ourselves and sort out what we choose to leave behind, and what we choose to move forward into. Like my mother Mary would always say to me it's about trusting the process. Recently this book also became a point of connection for a new found "brother" in my life, as I shared the story with my friend Leo while we drove Phoenix to Southern California at night back in early November. There is a "magic" to this story that I can't really explain, so I just experience and appreciate it. Here's hoping you get a "one in three Papa Jet" chance of having the same ride and experience I did. Take the time to give it a read. Hard to put down. Characters were so real that you'd recognize them in a crowd and want to chat. Loved living in Jet's head for the ride. My third Landon Napoleon book in a row... all different and all superb reads!
Excellent book, well done! I've never read anything quite like it. Often you read a book, and it's just like a lot of other books you've read with only names and places changed. Movies are like that, too. This book is truly unique. It's not something I'd normally pick up because it's darker than my typical read, but I was pleasantly surprised at how into it I became the longer I read. The author did a fantastic job building suspense. This book reminded me why I love reading.
